The Gap Between Intent and Willingness to Pay
The Austrian alpine hotel industry is facing one of the greatest transformations in its history. While climate change threatens snow reliability at lower altitudes and the technical costs of snowmaking drive up operating expenses, social pressure toward sustainable tourism is growing. Austrian tourism associations and hotel operators face the challenge of refinancing substantial investments in zero-emission infrastructure such as solar power, biomass heating plants, and regional circular economies.
