Audience Grounding Reference: Data Sources
Audience grounding is study-specific. Minds can use supplied material and public-source context where enabled; researchers should inspect the actual sources, assumptions, and distributions attached to each Audience.
Clients regularly ask which data can sit behind a Minds Audience. This page is a reference list, not a claim that every listed institution is queried for every Audience.
Minds does not maintain a fixed recruited-human panel. Audiences can be created from descriptions, existing Minds, files, links, research notes, and public-source context where enabled. The actual evidence depends on the request, workspace configuration, source access, and researcher review.
How we use these sources
When source research is enabled, Audience creation can use four reviewable steps:
- Search. The research question and audience definition are turned into targeted queries against public web and document sources.
- Extract. Candidate demographic, psychographic, socioeconomic, behavioral, geographic, or firmographic distributions are identified from supplied and accessible material.
- Review. Observed values, requested quotas, and proposed assumptions remain distinct. A source that names a variable without a share may result in an explicitly assumed distribution rather than a falsely attributed number.
- Cite. Grounded distributions retain source context where supported. Researchers should inspect the actual Audience record instead of inferring provenance from this general list.
Because selection is task-specific, a German B2B Audience and a Japanese consumer Audience may use different institutions. Some requests may rely primarily on customer-supplied material; others may not produce a defensible public distribution for every variable.
How sources are prioritized
The previous numeric confidence bands were not a published product guarantee. Use the qualitative hierarchy below as an editorial review aid; source relevance, recency, population fit, methodology, and directness still need to be checked for the specific Study.
| Priority | Typical source type | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Prefer direct evidence | National statistics, regulators, original datasets, peer-reviewed research | Does it directly measure the target population and variable? |
| Use with context | Research institutes, associations, panel providers, and disclosed industry research | Is the method, field date, sample, and population fit clear? |
| Treat as a lead | Domain publications or commercial summaries that name an original source | Can the primary evidence be inspected and cited instead? |
| Label as an assumption | Researcher-provided targets or proposed distributions without observed shares | Is the value clearly separated from observed evidence? |
Source list
The institutions below are examples of sources that may be relevant, grouped by type. Inclusion does not mean routine use, automatic acceptance, live access, endorsement, or a fixed priority. Sources not listed here may be more appropriate for a particular market or question.

What this list is not
These are public-source references, not partners, sponsors, or endorsers of Minds. Listing them does not imply a commercial relationship, licence, live integration, routine use, or review of Minds by the named institution. Where a commercial provider publishes useful evidence, source rights and access terms still apply.
